ABOUT

About

Jessica Kwong is the lucky mom of two incredible bringers-of-joy, a light-hearted yoga teacher, a part-time living statue, and a confirmed, life-long bookworm. She was part of The Yoga Lounge’s inaugural 200-hr RYS Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with Jeff Mah and Tanis Fishman in 2012, and has been practicing yoga for the better part of 20 years. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance from the University of Calgary, and a Diploma in Nutrition Management from SAIT. Her personal practice is Iyengar-informed, strongly influenced by her interest in numerous somatic practices, and coloured by many years of multi-disciplinary dance training.

As an instructor, Jessica strives to serve others by bringing together these inter-related pursuits—focusing a practiced eye not only on the in-the-moment expression of asana, but on each individual’s more ingrained postural patterns as well. Classes with Jessica encompass the fluid grace of a flow practice, the specificity of alignment needed to maintain healthy longevity, support for deeper investigation into habitual holding patterns, the building of stamina and connectivity through balance and integrative core work, and attention to the necessary aspects of rest and release.

TESTIMONIAL
Jessica thoughtfully prepares her class utilizing her knowledge of the body and anatomy to carefully craft classes that both respect and encourage the student at whatever their level of proficiency. As a person she is both serious and fun in the way she interacts with her students. She bothers to get to know you and your needs on the mat.
