"YOGA IS THE JOURNEY
of the self,
THROUGH THE SELF,
TO THE SELF."
- THE BHAGAVAD GITA
About
Jessica has dedicated her life to movement, beginning with tap, jazz, and ballet at age 5, expanding her performance skills at VCHS (now Victoria School of the Arts) in Edmonton, and earning a BA in Contemporary Dance (with distinction) from the University of Calgary while pregnant with her first child at 30.
In between, she discovered Yoga, which served at various times as a tool for both relaxation and conditioning; a therapeutic means to address pain, injury, and longstanding postural misalignments; an opportunity to build and be a part of community; and a way to access and live in the emotional and physical bodies simultaneously.
Jessica completed her foundational 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Jeff Mah and Tanis Fishman, and continued her journey with study under such leaders as Judith Lasater, Jules Mitchell, and Hart Lazar, while exploring other somatic modalities such as Continuum Movement, Mitzvah Technique (Itcush Method), Yamuna, and Pilates.
Since 2012, Jessica has been teaching Yoga while raising her now-teenaged children, focusing on functional mobility for all life stages, following her passionate belief that Yoga is a Practice for Every Body.

Yoga for a Balanced Life

Jessica thoughtfully prepares her class utilizing her knowledge of the body and anatomy to carefully craft classes that both respect and encourage the student at whatever their level of proficiency. As a person she is both serious and fun in the way she interacts with her students. She bothers to get to know you and your needs on the mat.
