ABOUT

About

Classes and private practice with Jessica prioritize the individuality of each unique body, and are focussed on experiential body-mind-breath connectivity (being present); sensing, feeling, and action (somatic awareness); and the primary baseline of working towards balanced strength, stability, flexibility, and whole-system responsiveness (resiliency through attuned proprioception and integrated functional mobility).

Completing her initial 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training with the inspirational Jeff Mah, founder of the Yoga Lounge in Canmore, and universally respected Nidra guide Tanis Fishman (School of Sankalpa), Jessica found her path as an instructor in 2012 and is constantly evolving in her approach and expanding her own research in the moving body, seeking further education with experts in the field such as Judith Lasater, Jules Mitchell, Hart Lazar, and investigating other modalities such as Continuum Movement (founded by Emilie Conrad), Mitzvah technique (Itcush method), Yamuna and Pilates, in her quest to bring balanced wellness to others — a passion matched only by her love for her children (and possibly that of a good book).

Jessica began her own yoga journey over 25 years ago while at the first of many crossroads and over the years, in seeking balance amongst motherhood, identity, career, and family, it has so well supported her that sharing this gift with others has become her calling; also holding her BA (with distinction) in Contemporary Dance from the University of Calgary, and a two-year diploma in Food & Nutrition Management from SAIT, Jessica strives to provide offerings that meet others where they are in all aspects of health and wellness, and is grateful for each opportunity to do so.

TESTIMONIAL
Jessica thoughtfully prepares her class utilizing her knowledge of the body and anatomy to carefully craft classes that both respect and encourage the student at whatever their level of proficiency. As a person she is both serious and fun in the way she interacts with her students. She bothers to get to know you and your needs on the mat.
